Kabelo MakotokoFrom: Lesotho
Hopes to study: Business, Economics, Accounting Accepted to: Berea College "Many Basotho lack education and hence are not able to develop real business ideas. This gives foreigners the opportunity to take over what belongs to us. I want the Basotho people to be able to create their own solutions. The only way they can do that is through education." |
Aisha ShahbazFrom: Namibia
Hopes to study: Forensic Science Accepted to: St. Johns College "As a girl, fighting for higher education, I understand that women are especially impacted. As a result, many girls cannot pursue their dreams, which continues the slow progress on Africa. I would like to represent the generation of African girls who are exceptions to this." |
Sara TilahunFrom: Ethiopia
Hopes to study: Medicine (Pediatrics) "Many women are repressed due to different malpractices in Ethiopia. Hence, they should be given special treatment and privilege to learn. They should be provided with learning facilities and encouragement. Women should have a valuable place in the community. They should be empowered so they can contribute to their country." |
Nice NigatuFrom: Ethiopia
Hopes to study: Physiology, Medicine "Many times in Africa people think a woman gets a fistula because God sent it to her because she sinned. This is not true. I want to teach them how fistulas actually happen. When less women get fistulas more of them can work and become equal to men, then all people in Africa can help solve its problems." |
Sampa MuliyundaFrom: Zambia
Hopes to study: Nursing, Health Studies "Poor people must never be made to feel that quality healthcare is only for the rich. A continent cannot develop when its people who are supposed to drive the needed development in the various sectors are hurdled with the challenge of disease." |
For 2014 we chose our top TEN students. Three of the ten were able to pass the TOEFL and successfully gain admission to a college (two in 2015 and one in 2016). It is a long and arduous fourney, and we commend every one of them for their tremendous efforts!
Your donations helped give these students the opportunity they deserved, and a chance to make a better life for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Thank you!
